Specific functionality is included for the planning of liquid and dry bulk transports and focuses on finding an optimal balance between service levels, product supply and transportation costs. It optimally assigns bulk orders to available resources, taking into account restrictions, like axle weights, product contamination, compartmental loading, vehicle accessibility etc. With SHORTREC, it’s also possible to have multiple schedules or solutions for the same set of orders and trucks. This allows your dispatcher to review alternative strategies while already having a schedule saved as a preferred scenario.
The optimization algorithm in SHORTREC minimizes the combined primary and secondary transportation costs. SHORTREC is a true multi-depot system where product sourcing can be evaluated on a dynamic basis, taking into account both the primary supply cost, product, throughput and lay down cost at various depots. This assures the lowest overall cost and therefore most efficient distribution schedule. Interfaces to common back office systems, like SAP and ORACLE are available, as well as communication mechanisms for on-board truck computers, handheld devices, and telemetry systems.
