Rombouts Food International optimizes entire logistic chain and all resources with ORTEC software

Rombouts Food International, a frozen products dealer and manufacturer, wants to increase the efficiency of its operations through the short-term implementation of three ORTEC scheduling systems. These are the staff scheduling system HARMONY, the scheduling and routing system SHORTREC and the load optimization system LoadDesigner.
“These systems provide us with the tools to take work off people’s hands and get more work done with the same number of people,” said director John Rombouts. “By improving our efficiency and effectiveness in this way, we will also improve the quality of our services and customer satisfaction. This will enable us to grow and remain a step ahead of the competition,” says John Rombouts.
The dealer and distributor selected ORTEC because ORTEC offers a combination of scheduling systems that complement one another. “No other company can do that,” says Rombouts’ Project Manager Francois Hoek. “In ORTEC we have found a renowned supplier who can solve all of our problems.”
Connection
Cost transparency and reduced scheduling pressure were some of Rombouts’ main reasons for implementing the SHORTREC scheduling and routing system. “SHORTREC proposes excellent solutions, which undoubtedly save the planner hours,” said Francois Hoek. “It’s also great that both SHORTREC and LoadDesigner can be connected to Navision. LoadDesigner is unique. There are very few companies offering a system of this nature. This load optimization system also enables us to manage the order picking process more effectively.”
Reliable in the future
Because Rombouts recently switched to a shift-work system, a good master schedule was required. “The shift-work system is extremely complex. HARMONY enables us to maintain an overview of the various shifts and to roster staff based on their respective skills. If demands become more complex in the future, I know for sure that HARMONY will be able to provide a solution we can rely on.”
Frozen products
Rombouts Food International sells and distributes a wide range of frozen products to the wholesale and food service industries. With an extensive network of wholesalers, Rombouts is able to supply nearly to 100% of the total food service market in the Benelux. Over the years Rombouts has expanded its network in close cooperation with a number of key frozen product manufacturers to encompass the rest of Europe and other countries where Dutch products are sold.
