Transport Van Overveld wants to grow through more relaxed scheduling with ORTEC

Realizing more relaxed scheduling in order to grow. Gert van Overveld, director of “Transport Van Overveld”:http:// www.overveld.nl/, had a clear objective in mind with the implementation of the ORTEC Transport & Distribution (ORTEC TD) planning and routing system. The system is linked to Transics and Navision onboard computers, the Qurius system that Transport Van Overveld uses to enter orders.
Time Savings and Simplicity
Considering Transport Van Overveld now has 100 vehicles, it is extremely important for Van Overveld to have a better overview of its scheduling. “We have many drivers, cars and semi-trailers continually making runs in various configurations that are always changing. In ORTEC TD you can immediately see what is and is not possible. Moreover, the different planning departments will work with a system, that creates greater uniformity in the scheduling. In addition, we can see almost immediately what a trip will cost, enabling the accounts department to take this into consideration from the start,” explains Gert van Overveld. System manager Fred Herkelman added, “We chose ORTEC TD because of the time savings and simplicity it will offer us. I estimate that as early as the beginning of next year we will see that we can really grow without incurring extra costs.”
Cream of the crop
During the selection phase, before ORTEC TD was chosen, only one other supplier was even being considered. However, that supplier was quickly rejected. “We immediately had a good feeling about ORTEC, in part due to its good name in the market,” the director continued. “We wanted the cream of the crop. The other supplier delivers complete packages but, we were a bit reluctant to take this route. ORTEC was far more impressive in the area of planning, Transics in the area of onboard computers and Qurius with Navision. I always say: stay with what you are good at.”
