Lensveld Shipping & Transport aims to improve planning overview with ORTEC

Lensveld Shipping & Transport has decided to automate its journey and route planning with the ORTEC Transport & Distribution (ORTEC TD) planning solution. The logistics service provider wants to use ORTEC TD to improve the overview of its planning in order to realize increased productivity with the same number of people and resources.
At the moment, most of Lensveld Shipping & Transport’s planning is performed manually. “As a result, the planners do have the plans in their heads, but there is no overview”, according to Financial Director J.H. Zoetmulder. “If an employee is sick, it is not easy for a colleague to take over their work.”
Better overview
“In ORTEC TD, the planners can take up one another’s work and the overview that is created produces a better picture of the plans. Planners can see more quickly what aspects can be improved. What we also find useful about ORTEC TD is that you can immediately see what a journey costs and whether there is a cheaper alternative.”
All departments
Another important advantage for Lensveld Transport & Shipping is the fact that the system can be deployed across all departments. “Not only at Lensveld Transport, but also at the Elvex ferry trailers and LV Container Trucking departments”, says the Financial Director.
“In addition, we defined – together with the planners –a number of requirements for ORTEC. These requirements could easily be met by the system. One small example: ORTEC TD was the only solution that allowed us to create various combinations between the different kinds of trucks and trailers. We must be able to flexibly change semi-trailers, because the loads we carry usually have varying sizes.”
