The paper planning cards that Wetron uses for its planning and routing activities will soon be history. Wetron Transport & Logistics has chosen to implement the ORTEC Transport & Distribution (ORTEC TD) planning and routing system.

The logistics service provider was already using a TMS system and also has warehouse software. “Digitizing our planning was simply a subsequent logical step in the automation of our processes,” according to Louis Coenders, Managing Director of Wetron.

Greater transparency

One of Wetron’s most important objectives is providing the planners with a greater insight into, and better overview of the overall planning. “ORTEC TD provides the planners with this, which creates greater transparency in their working methods and enables administrative activities to be carried out more efficiently,” comments Wetron applications manager Kim Hovestad. “In principle, the planners carried out their activities effectively and flawlessly using the planning cards. However, the workload is so big, that a digital planning tool is essential.”

Most flexible

“Of all the parties we have seen, we believe ORTEC is the best. If I look at the market, ORTEC Transport & Distribution is the most flexible planning system available. It also allows us to continue using our existing planning process,” says Kim Hovestad. “ORTEC TD is also the favorite among the planners. The graphic element in particular, i.e. planning on the card, and the fact that they have seen how planners at similar companies employ this method, meant that the planners ultimately selected ORTEC TD.”

“We want to use ORTEC TD to increase our efficiency in order to be able to provide our customers, drivers and other relations with an even better service,” Coenders adds. “ORTEC has the knowledge, skills and experience to achieve this for us.”
