Published on June 23, 2006

ORTEC announced today that ARINC Incorporated has chosen ORTEC’s HARMONY Workforce Scheduling Solution to optimize and streamline their Aviation Voice Services employee scheduling process.

Since it’s incorporation in 1929, ARINC has been a leader in aviation communications. Today, ARINC is an $891 million, ISO 9001:2000 certified company that’s recognized as the leading provider of transportation communications and systems engineering solutions for five major industries: aviation, airports, defense, government, and transportation.

Headquartered in Annapolis, Maryland, ARINC’s 3,200 dedicated employees, located in more than 100 offices around the world, provide over 200 value-added solutions and services to customers in 104 countries.

ARINC’s main objectives for seeking a workforce scheduling system were to decrease time spent on scheduling their employees, to have a tool that supports their rotating schedules and meets the criteria of its union rules & agreements. As stated by John Metzger, Sr Program Manager at ARINC: ‘HARMONY is the solution that met our needs of handling our rotating schedules, providing an optimization engine to assign any open shifts to employees available and it, automatically checks all the labor rules. The system is very flexible, which allows us to set up the system according to our specific needs’. HARMONY will also allow ARINC to automate their shift bid and vacation bid process. Furthermore, by allowing employees to view their work schedules, vacation schedules/balances, etc. remotely via the HARMONY web portal, ARINC will be able to greatly reduce the number of employee phone calls.
