ORTEC announced today that Magna IV Engineering is using ORTEC’s ASP version of the HARMONY Workforce Scheduling Software to optimize and streamline their Field Service employee scheduling process.
Magna IV Engineering is a privately owned company, which was incorporated in 1982 to provide electrical engineering consulting, equipment testing and commissioning services to the utility, industrial, commercial and institutional sectors. Magna has grown steadily, evolving into the present Magna Group of Companies, which includes a number of independent limited companies in operation across Western Canada, including British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. These companies provide a wide range of services relating to electrical power systems.
According to Kelly Butz at Magna, ‘Our difficulties include scheduling a wide range of different projects using a variety of workers at various locations and times. Our client’s priorities may change on a daily basis due to facility process changes or an emergency situation, forcing short notice adjustments to the schedule to meet our client’s demands. Our company has grown to a size where managing this process manually on paper is no longer feasible. We recognized a need for software to help us identify at a glance who of our manpower is available and gaps and overallocations in our schedule.’ By choosing HARMONY, Magna now has a tool in place that will allow Magna to plan and track multiple projects and their employees in advance as well as providing day-to-day dispatch functionality with the ability to make last minute and urgent adjustments on a real time basis. Furthermore, by allowing employees to enter requests for time off and view their work schedules and vacation schedules/balances remotely via the HARMONY web portal, Magna will be able to greatly reduce the number of employee phone calls.
