Longview Fibre Company Decides to Buy SHORTREC Software
Published on July 9, 2004
Logs are loaded at various LFCo tree farms in Washington and Oregon, and are hauled by independent contractors to mills or export yards. Some of the elements to be considered include the different truck types, wood sorts, and selecting the most optimal delivery location. A customized load entry application was also developed by ORTEC to assist the dispatcher(s) in capturing load information.
The next step will be to include more tree farms and contractors in the automated routing and dispatch process. In the meantime, LFCo is in the process of installing a wireless network to provide communication between drivers, tree farm managers and the dispatcher(s) throughout the area.
